M.Gregonis: sports diplomacy chance to grow sports in Sharjah

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Sports Council is organising a comprehensive volleyball training camp in cooperation with the American Consulate in Dubai, from 17th to 21st December in Sharjah.
150 coaches and 480 athletes from international clubs will participate in the camp. five American coaches will be assigned for the theoretical and practical sections.

Meghan Gregonis, US Consul General in Dubai, stated, in an exclusive interview with “Sharjah 24”, that they are excited to introduce a sports diplomacy programme where five American volleyball coaches will participate in the programme to help coaches and athletes enhance their skills.

She added that the programme is a significant opportunity where athletes and coaches cooperate not just to develop technical skills but also to enhance mental toughness, teamwork skills, and other helpful skills in the academic field and life.

“I am particularly excited that women and girls get the opportunity to participate in these programmes,” Meghan Gregonis said.

There are 4 female coaches among the US cader that will be working with them, in which one of them has 2 Silver Olympic Medals.

“It is an opportunity for women and girls to get involved in the sport and to move forward. We are really excited to work with Sharjah Sports Council, and we are looking forward to working with them in the future,” said the U.S. Consul General
