The festival, which runs through Saturday, is organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau's Sharjah Events initiative at the Al Majaz Amphitheatre, under the motto "See Sharjah".
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed highlighted the spectrum of activities conducted by the Emirate of Sharjah's departments and authorities to address the diverse interests and demands of all sectors of society and to promote the Emirate of Sharjah's development process.
He noted that the growing demand for a diverse range of events in Sharjah reflects the city's social and cultural richness.
As part of this ceremony, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi unveiled the agenda of events planned by the departments and authorities of the Emirate in the year 2022, which will cover various cultural, economic, scientific, heritage, sports, artistic and entertainment fields, with an emphasis on reaching out to all segments of the community.
Alia Mohamed Bu Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), stated during the festival's opening ceremony, "Since the launch of (Sharjah Events website), the vision has been clear in highlighting the activities and events that the Emirate is rich in, with the involvement and support of the public and private sectors, via one integrated platform that reflects best possible media and tourist presence."
"This initiative is an outcome of the Sharjah Events Website, and over 25 government and private departments and institutions are participating in its inaugural edition, all working cooperatively to celebrate Sharjah's achievements in a distinctive festive atmosphere as we approach a new year filled with aspirations and visions," she added.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi and the attendees watched the singing show "Sharjah Shines", and the ceremony included various activities, fireworks and artistic and entertainment shows.
The ceremony ended with Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed honouring all Sharjah’s authorities, entities, and departments that had participated.
