Sharjah24: Within its social solidarity service, the “Noun” project , which was launched by the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) in 2016, with the aim of providing educational support for children who lack the right for education, is launched again with new mechanisms.
According to Amina Al-Rifai, the Director of the Child and Family Protection Center in the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, the Noun project is working to provide an “education chair” in regular schools from the first to the twelfth grade, initially targeting approximately 50 children to be enrolled during the current academic year 2021-2022 in public or private schools.
The Department also hopes the participation of institutions, private entities and individuals in the success of its projects by activating the societal role, helping in providing the appropriate educational environment for children who lack the right to education.
Al-Rifai says that the "Noun" program provides an opportunity for community members to contribute in supporting and sponsoring students from low or no-income families, highlighted the program’s objectives, including secure the right to education for children in the Emirate of Sharjah; re-enroll children who have dropped out of school in public and private schools through cooperation with local community institutions and supporting institutions; as well as spread a culture of social responsibility among individuals.
