Sharjah 24: The Consultative Council of Sharjah claimed the benefit of Nafes programme that was launched by the wise leadership at the UAE level to reduce the unemployment rate and bridge the structural gap in the labour market.
Members interventions tackled viewpoints supporting the Human Resources Department in Sharjah government, aiming at absorbing the largest number of citizens in the labour market through part-time contracts and creating a platform showcasing job seekers’ profiles to government and private sector entities, in addition to providing equal opportunities for all applicants.

The topics were tackled in the second session that was held by the Council in the third ordinary session of the tenth legislative term at its headquarters in Sharjah, headed by His Excellency Ali Mehd Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC).

His Excellency Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, the Secretary-General of SCC, said that in continuation of the Human Resources Department achievements in the Government of Sharjah aimed at developing human resources, realising administrative and technical development in the government sector, and raising productivity to improve the level of job performance, the applicants would like to discuss the department’s policies.

His Excellency Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Member of Sharjah Executive Council and Director of the Department of Human Resources, praised the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to the Department and his keenness to provide decent livelihoods and secure jobs for all citizens, referring in his speech to the Department’s keenness to exert all efforts to qualify job seekers and provide various jobs in the public and private sectors.

In response to the inquiries of the Council members, His Excellency Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim and his assistants, explained that from January to September 2021, 1377 appointments were in total, and indicated that the number of contributions of the Department in appointing 26674 nationals from 2010 to September 2021.

The Department indicated that it receives job seekers' requests through the immediate registration service in the department's e- service, responds to all inquiries; provides professional advice on current and future labour market requirements; guides them towards the most appropriate career path; performs data updates for researchers registered in the department; and introduces the department’s methodology to support job seekers

The department confirmed its keenness to provide training, as well as finding jobs for Sharjah residents, both in the government sector and the private sector.

During the session, His Excellency Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Director of the Department of Human Resources, extend his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for harnessing all efforts and capabilities to support, prepare, qualify, train and enable Emirati human resources to work in governmental or private sector, and ensure their career development which supports the sustainable development process in the UAE.

At the end of the session, the Secretary-General of the Council announced that the next session will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021, and will tackle the Council's draft recommendations regarding the policy of the Department of Human Resources in Sharjah.
