Sharjah24: The Expo Centre Sharjah discussed with international delegations ways to enhance the participation and presence of international companies in the Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show (WJMES) and to take advantage of the Centre's expertise in organizing and hosting one of MENA's largest specialized jewellery trade fairs.
This came during the meeting held on the sidelines of the WJMES between HE Saif Mohamed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah, and HE Nicola Lener, Italy's Ambassador to the UAE.
Also attending were Giuseppe Finocchiaro, the Consul General of Italy in Dubai, and Amedeo Scarpa, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, Oman and Pakistan.
The two sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of organizing joint events and providing services and benefits to investors and exhibition visitors from both countries.
The meeting also touched on the challenges facing the gold and jewellery sector under the current circumstances and ways to confront them to serve the interests of all parties and expedite the rebound of this sector.
Saif Al Midfa stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between economic activities in both countries and forging lasting partnerships in the field of exhibitions and conferences sector.
Al Midfa commended the depth of relations in terms of the mutual participation in exhibitions organized by the two sides, which is reflected in the strong presence of Italian companies in WJMES, reaching about 47 companies.
Expressing his pleasure with the remarkable participation of Italian companies in WJMES, Nicola Lener underlined that this event is considered one of the most important exhibitions specialized in the jewellery industry in the region.
This reflects Sharjah's leading position as a regional hub for gold trade and industry, as well as an important market for Italian production in the Gulf region.
Saif Al Midfa met also Alexei Busev, Executive Director, Russian-Emirates Business Council, where the two sides discussed a number of issues of common interest, with the aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Sharjah and Russia, in a way that meets the aspirations of exhibitions and conferences sector in both sides.
The two sides also discussed ways to foster the participation of Russian companies in the upcoming editions of WJMES.
Al Midfa underlined that Expo Center is always keen to adopt an innovative strategy when it comes to promoting the important and major events it organizes in various fields, including the Watch & Jewelry Middle East Show.
Commending the experience of the Expo Center Sharjah in the exhibition industry, Alexei Busev also lauded the pioneering organizational and technical practices of the Expo Center Sharjah, which enables it to organize a considerable number of specialised international exhibitions, such as WJMES.
Busev stressed that the successes achieved by the participating exhibitors and the remarkable turnout of visitors, as well as the facilities provided by the Expo Centre to exhibitors, make the Russian companies more keen to take part in the upcoming editions.
