Sharjah 24: Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) won the Arabia Corporate Social Responsibility Award (Arabia CSR) for the year 2021 under the government institutions category, which is organised annually by the Arabia CSR Network in appreciation of SEWA's efforts in support of preserving the environment.
Engineer Fatima Al Kadhim, Director of Health, Safety and Environment at SEWA, stated the Authority is proud of the achievement and of being ranked second in the category of government institutions at the level of the Arab world. She pointed out that this achievement reflects SEWA’s plans in development and progression in various fields.

She pointed out that the Authority won the award as a result of its actions to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change, due to the shift to the use of natural gas in the production of electricity and water desalination, projects in the field of energy efficiency, and launching several community initiatives aimed at rationalising the consumption of water and electricity and developing services.

Aisha Al Hammadi, Director of Strategy and Institutional Development Department, explained that the award aims to encourage employees to participate in projects and initiatives and encourage government and private institutions to achieve excellence in environmental protection and community service.
