The event coincides with UAE’s celebration of the Emirati Civil Aviation Day falling on October 5 every year, which marks the landing of the first plane at Sharjah airport in 1932. It came from Gwadar airport (now in Pakistan) heading to Bahrain. The Imperial Airways aircraft, named ‘Hanno’ fueled up and left carrying passengers and mail from Sharjah, marking the first flight in the history of the country.
In this context, Ibrahim Al Ali, Assistant Secretary-General of the Aviation Museum at the Al Mahatta Museum, confirmed that on the occasion of the landing of the first plane at the Sharjah Air Station, the Al Mahatta Museum inaugurated the “Sharjah First Flying School” exhibition, which chronicles the history of the aviation school in Sharjah, and a exhibits a set of collectibles related to the basic records of pilots, flight dress and a brief about the founder of the school "Adel Al-Deeb".
Al Ali added, in an exclusive statement to "Sharjah 24", that the exhibition includes personal souvenirs of the school’s first female student, Fatinah Al Beetar, who obtained a pilot's license in the Emirate of Sharjah during 1973-1984. The exhibition also displays 10 collectibles dedicated by the Sharjah Civil Aviation Department.
