A showcase for the emirate’s environmental achievements and Sharjah Safari
Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), said: “We are always keen to participate in important events and activities, such as the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, at state level. This distinguished event is held in high regard as it provides visitors with an opportunity to acquire the latest camping, hunting, equestrian, outdoor and marine sports equipment. In addition, the dedicated heritage area introduces visitors to the country’s ancient heritage. Our participation in the exhibition serves as an opportunity to present the most important achievements of the Emirate of Sharjah in from an environmental perspective, as well to promote Sharjah Safari.”

Al Suwaidi added: “Sharjah Safari, located within the Al Bridi Reserve in Al Dhaid area, is considered the largest safari project in the world out of Africa. It houses more than 120 species of African animals, the rarest of which are the black rhinoceros, as well as more than 100,000 local and African trees, the most significant of which are Acacia Tortilis trees. It is the most important eco-tourism destination in the region.”

Designed with African wildlife in mind
The Sharjah Safari building includes several facilities, including a visitors’ camp, rest houses and restaurants, which were designed with African elements like wood and straw in mind.

In addition to Sharjah Safari’s contribution to the resettlement of rhinos, giraffes, gazelles and birds, there is also a tourist and scientific project for the breeding animals that are on the verge of extinction.

Communicating and interacting with exhibition visitors
The Authority’s participation in ADIHEX is aimed at communicating and interacting with visitors to familiarize them with the Authority’s efforts in various fields of environmental preservation and protection, as well as its efforts in preserving biodiversity. Other aims include educating the public about the role played by the Authority in raising awareness of the status of the environment and the need to protect and preserve it.

Promoting the heritage and traditions of the UAE
A general aim of ADIHEX is to promote the heritage and traditions of the UAE, as well as to shed light on the ancient history of the Emirates. It is driven by Abu Dhabi, the region’s cultural heritage capital, and as a government initiative is aimed primarily at raising awareness of Emirati traditions, culture and heritage, as well as local sports based on principles of nobility and sustainability, among the youth.
