The delegation was received by Dr. Eng. His Excellency Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Head of the Municipal Affairs, Agriculture, and Livestock Department, Mr. Salem Al Kaabi, Director of the Legal Affairs Office and Director of the Municipal Affairs Department, Ms. Razan Al Hammadi, Director of the Green Development Department, and Ms. Maryam Al Junaibi, Head of the Agricultural Extension Division.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Head of the Municipal Affairs, Agriculture, and Livestock Department, welcomed the attendees, pointing to the interest of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah in green development and the preservation of biodiversity, stressing the department's keenness to develop the necessary plans To achieve sustainability and quality agricultural products and to provide the possible facilities for this vital sector.
Ms. Razan Al Hammadi, Director of the Department of Green Development, presented an overview, current projects and future plans of the department. Al Hammadi also tackled the importance of agriculture in Sharjah, which contributes to food security, in addition to establishing existing partnerships with various relevant authorities, including the University of Sharjah, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), which comes out of the department’s keenness to contribute to community service, advance agricultural development in Sharjah and raise the level of performance.
At the end of the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabeh Al Tunaiji thanked the delegation for their interest and efforts related to infrastructure development, exchange of experiences and mutual visits between the two countries to organise this vital sector. He also stressed the importance of strengthening communication and developing joint action to achieve food security and preserve the environment.
