Sharjah 24: Based on Emiri Decree No. (34) of 2021 regarding the convening of the municipal councils of Sharjah, Salem Ali Al Muhairi, Chairman of Sharjah Municipal Council (SMC), chaired the first ordinary session of the 17th annual term. The meeting was also attended by Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director-General of Sharjah Municipality.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al Muhairi expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for renewing confidence in the Municipal Council, and to Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, for his constant support to the Council.

Dr Khalifa Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Municipal Affairs, Agriculture and Livestock Department (MAALD), praised the initiatives presented by the SMC during the previous annual quarter, stressing that MAALD coordinates with all government departments and entities to implement these initiatives.

The Council, along with Obaid Al Tunaiji, showed gratitude towards Thabet Salem Al Tarifi, former Director-General of SM, for his efforts and achievements during his tenure as the municipality's director-general. 

Al Tarifi thanked everyone for the honouring initiative and the great meanings that it carries, reflecting the extent of appreciation for what he presented to the municipality’s work team. He stressed that the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah are the foundation stone from which all development initiatives in municipal work are launched.
