Sharjah 24: In implementation of the development plan aimed at providing integrated services to achieve comfort and happiness in the community, and in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sharjah Directorate of Public Works (SDPW), in coordination with Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority (SLSDA) completed the construction of the labourers’ entertainment park in the Al Sajaa Industrial Area, which was established to entertain workers.
Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Executive Council Member and Chairman of Sharjah Directorate of Public Works (SDPW), said that the new park will serve more than 100 thousand workers located in the industrial area, as it includes about 70 percent of Sharjah workers.  Al Suwaidi pointed that the park will be an outlet where workers spend good times during their vacations and after the end of their daily work. The park area is 15000 square meters, and includes two cricket pitches, two multi-purpose fields, walking paths, green spaces, security rooms, 10 administrative offices and 10 commercial offices, in addition to service rooms, indicating that the project will be an outlet for workers, without being obliged to leave their residence area.

Al Suwaidi stated that SDPW pays special attention to projects of human interest, benefiting the work environment in Sharjah, providing workers with comfort.

Al Suwaidi pointed out that the project implements the directives of the Ruler of Sharjah, to support the community services system in Sharjah in order to serve all regions, groups and segments of society. He explained that parks were designed according to the latest models equipped with all community facilities in accordance with the approved standards, noting that playgrounds have been planned, in addition to mosques, shops, cafes, administrative offices for municipal services, security points, mail boxes and others, in addition to green spaces.

His Excellency Salem Yousef Al Qasir, Chairman of Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority (SLSDA) confirmed that the idea of developing these parks and other labour projects enjoy the direct support of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, who is keen to direct SLSDA to provide all necessary needs for workers and employers to get the ideal living conditions that reflect Sharjah civilisation, and improve workers cultural, intellectual and health life. 

Al Qasir pointed that such projects come from the SLSDA objectives to complete the facilities and infrastructure that promote a decent life for workers.
