Sharjah 24: The Municipality of Dibba Al Hisn concluded the activities of the eighth edition of the “Al Maleh and Fishing Festival”, organised by the Municipality of Dibba Al Hisn and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry with different and interesting events and programmes reflecting the Sharjah Institute for Heritage vision and mission aiming at preserving heritage for future generations.
His Excellency Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage stated that the Institute is keen to participate in different programmes, activities and events at Sharjah and UAE levels, which emphasises the importance and necessity of cooperation, coordination and joint action in order to achieve the highest levels of progress, excellence and success. The programme presented by the Institute was distinguished by diversity and richness in the world of heritage, especially with regard to the maritime heritage of Dibba Al-Hisn.

Al Musallam pointed that the Institute's participation in the activities of the festival, which is the most prominent heritage event at the state level specialised in the dried fish industry, aims to achieve the Institute's goals in celebrating the ancient cultural heritage.

Dr. Khalid bin Jumaie Al Hindassi, Director of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, Dibba Al-Hisn Branch, said the Institute is pleased to participate in the activities of the Dried Fish and Fishing Festival in Dibba Al Hisn, where the festival celebrates the ancient maritime heritage of Dibba Al-Hisn, by shedding light on marine crafts, and showcasing collectibles and traditional fishing tools, as well as performing folk art.

The festival lasted 4 days, and included different activities, performances whereas heritage, awareness and entertainment competitions celebrating the dried fish industry were organised, as well as educational workshops on how to make dried fish, and popular products.
