Salem bin Abdulrahman inaugurates “Luminous Letters” exhibition

Sharjah24: Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of Ruler’s Office, opened Wednesday morning, “Luminous Letters” art exhibition, by Emirati artist and calligrapher Mohammed Mandi, at the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum.
The exhibition, which runs until December 4, celebrates the Emirati artist, Mohammed Mandi, and his creative works, which were inspired by the Emirati environment between the past and the present, and quotes of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which he expressed in his own artistic style.



Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman toured the corridors of the exhibition, listening to an explanation of the details of the works, the fonts used and their artistic implications.

The artist, Mohamed Mandi, made his artistic mark in history by writing the Emirati passport, the Emirati currency, and the currency of a number of countries. The exhibition includes the artist’s calligraphic tools and a set of his lessons during his educational career in Cairo and Istanbul.

The exhibition also includes an artistic painting entitled Zayed the Leader using Al Diwani script, bearing the judgment and sayings of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, in addition to a painting entitled “Culture” designed in Al Ruqqa script and included a quotes collection of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi.



Mandi drew a painting on the canvas under the title "Sharjah's Wreath", using acrylic colors in addition to Diwani calligraphy, as well as a painting on the canvas bearing the inscription "The Union lives in my heart", as well as 41 different designs for the Sharjah word, which appear in creative lines and shapes, and many one of the paintings that drew ideas from the Emirati environment.



The exhibition will witness, throughout its duration, accompanying programmes and events, including a live virtual meeting with artist Mohammed Mandi entitled Aesthetics of the Art of Decoration. The events also witness workshops on Diwani calligraphy, decoration, special logo design, and inking art.
