Sharjah 24: "Since the establishment of the UAE and the foundation of the Union, the wise leadership has been keen to invest in the human element in various areas of life,” affirmed Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, on the occasion the Emirati Women’s Day which falls on 28th August each year.
“Building on this, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, adopted the thought of the founding father to be a support for women in their societal roles as responsible mothers, daughters and sisters in their families, substantiating this support with legislation and initiatives that enhance their presence in the work environment, whether as leaders or within the work team,” Sheikha Jawaher said.

She added that women did not start making history from decision-making positions. Rather, the basis of their contributions to field work commenced when their role was to teachi the Holy Qur’an and basic sciences for children, perform nursing tasks and engage in the police corps, until their role gradually increased in their community presence and support for men in building society, starting from the most important elements of human formation, knowledge, health and safety.

Sheikha Jawaher added that Emirati women did not perform their work in pursuit of fame or waiting for cheers of admiration, but rather because they are loyal to their country, sensing their responsibilities towards their society and before their guardians, thus becoming teachers, artists, doctors, nurses, soldiers and engineers. “The list goes on, and we must appreciate all their efforts, for they deserve marking of this day to show them appreciation for their work, and crown their achievements that do not appear to the public,” Sheikha Jawaher continued.

Sheikh Jawaher Al Qasimi went on, “Today, as we are about to celebrate half a century of sustainable development, we thank every woman who gave her energies and skills for the sake of the nation's elevation, and we appreciate every woman on the land of this dear country, who knew her duty and was faithful in performing it to the fullest.” Sheikh Jawaher concluded, “You are the support and the asset in building the nation's history, and the pillar that supports and assists the man in continuing the path of community development and service, and raising the name of the country with pride at the international arenas.”
