SSC discusses joint co-op with Special Olympics Kuwait

Sharjah 24: His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), affirmed SSC’s will to cooperate in any way that improves sports in Sharjah to keep up with its future aspirations and ambitions in promoting general sports and sports for people with disabilities.
His Excellency Al Hazami met with representatives of the Special Olympics Kuwait and Al Tomooh Sport Club at Al Thiqah Club for Handicapped to set up a training camp at Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club.

The joint training camp will help preparing to participate in the 2021 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Russia and the Berlin Championship qualifying for the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Germany. 

The camp started on August 14 and will continue until September 3.

His Excellency Al Hazami indicated that the meeting with the delegation comes within SSC’s responsibility to encourage joint meetings with foreign and GCC parties, which will reflect the SSC’s leading role in sports in Sharjah, and the great support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council.

According to His Excellency Al Hazami, the role of SSC and the cooperation with clubs and entities in the Emirate were reviewed to support the sports movement for the people with disabilities. 

His Excellency also highlighted that the SSC will cooperate with the Special Olympics Kuwait in many programmes and events that contribute to the development of sports in the two countries.
