Sharjah 24: The Health Promotion Department (HPD) at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) and its affiliates, have intensified their efforts to consolidate the leading position of the Emirate of Sharjah in the field of humanitarian work and to promote the path of giving and benevolence, guided by the visions and directives of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, through launching several humanitarian community initiatives and health programmes that aim to support patients and provide a health-enhancing environment.
In its report on the occasion of its celebration of the World Humanitarian Day, the HPD revealed that it provided financial and in-kind support worth about AED2 million to many patients of different nationalities, in addition to donating more than AED330,000 to a number of health centres, with the aim of enhancing their capabilities to provide the highest levels of health care. 

The report shed light on the awareness activities provided by the administration and health-supporting associations, which received a positive response among members of society. These activities, which targeted more than 55 thousand people from different nationalities in the UAE, contributed to raising the level of health awareness of community members, and enhancing their health knowledge that ensures their protection from various diseases.

Iman Rashid Saif, Director of Health Promotion Department, indicated that the Emirate of Sharjah has an honourable march in humanitarian giving and a proven track record of local and international charitable campaigns. She added that the department’s efforts come within the framework of its keenness to consolidate this leading position of the emirate, based on principles and values adopted  by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, by supporting and strengthening humanitarian and charitable efforts, and introducing community initiatives, which promote the culture of giving at various levels and extending a helping hand to all in need wherever they are.

The SCI and its associations are keen to promote volunteer work in the health field and to provide a stimulating environment to participate in voluntary initiatives, thus succeeded in attracting more than 200 male and female volunteers of various nationalities and health and administrative specialisations.
