Sharjah 24: Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah (Sajaya), an affiliate of the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, organised an event, which included discussions on food security and youth, on Monday, for ages between 13 and 35 years, targeting both males and females, virtually.
This comes to empower young people to achieve the aspirations of sustainable development and provides them with the opportunity to overcome challenges and find solutions.

The session hosted a number of people in the field of sustainable development, including Hamed Al Hamed, CEO of Gracia Group, who spoke about the group’s role in supporting youth in the field of agriculture. The Engineer Ali Saeed Abu Zangal, Director of the Digital Transformation Department at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park Free Zone (SRTI Park), who introduced the audience to the hydroponics project and its importance, which plays a major role in ensuring the sustainability of food security.

The event also witnessed the participation of Eng. Nouf Mohammed Wazir, Senior Engineer in the Energy Department in Bee’ah, where she discussed the project of converting waste into a solar energy farm. Eng. Salama Al Mansoori, Agricultural Engineer, in turn talked about the challenges that young people may face in the field of agricultural engineering and how to overcome them. 

The talk also shared the efforts of the members of the Sharjah Youth Parliament and all those who are interested in achieving sustainable development goals by discussing challenges and developing solutions.

Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi, Director of Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, stated that the discussion on the issue of food security aims to raise the role of youth in initiatives to enhance research and development capabilities in the field of food, and to achieve the national strategy for food security in the UAE.
