Sharjah24: Ajmal Hasan, the Head of Operations & Tourism Development, at the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has expressed his pleasure to welcome the visitors at Mleiha Campsite, highlighting the significance of the Perseids Meteor Shower astronomical event, where the guests spend wonderful time through exploring various activities.
In an exclusive statement to “Sharjah 24”, Ajmal Hasan has also spoke about the various activities of the astronomical events, organised by the Mleiha Archeology Center in Sharjah for visitors and stargazers enthusiasts, at Mleiha Campsite, being located close to Jebel Faya, the archaeological site.
The Perseids are considered to be one of the prominent meteor showers of the year. They occur every year between July 17 and August 24 and tend to peak around August 9-13.
The Perseids are widely sought after by astronomers and stargazers because most years at its peak, one can see 60 to 100 meteors in an hour from a dark place. This year the peak shower is falling on the night of August 12.
