During the meeting, the Parents Council stressed the importance of integrating the role of the educational process in all its dimensions to achieve an equation of interacting elements whose roles are shared by several parties, the most important of which are the family, the home and the community, so that all cooperate in carrying out this message in the best way to reach the desired results.
Chaired by its chairman, Rashid Abdullah Al Mehyan, the Council congratulated Dr. Susan Mumm on her appointment as the new Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, wishing her success.
The Council emphasised the need to strengthen links between home and school in light of the current circumstances witnessed by the country and the world at large, since education is a societal issue in which all parties, be they the family, the school, and all members of society and its various institutions, must participate.
Al Mehyan called for the importance of continuing to implement various programmes aimed at developing and strengthening the relationship of society and parents with the school in accordance with the message and objectives of the Sharjah Education Council, with focus on giving a greater role for parents to contribute to supporting the educational process through continuous support and follow-up to the educational achievement of their children, as well as supporting the role of the school in local community.
The Council revealed a set of activities and events that it intends to implement during the coming period, including an honouring ceremony on the occasion of the 'Year of the 50th' in commemoration of 50 years of the UAE's formation in 1971.
The council approved training courses for students, competitions between students of schools in the central region, and signing of joint agreements with local institutions in the region, which would contribute to strengthening interdependence and joint work between the elements of the educational community in the central region, in addition to focusing on talented photographers in the central region and providing means of support.
