Sharjah24: With a total of 322 lamps and an energy reduction rate of 47.6%, Sharjah City Municipality (SCM) revealed the completion of the work of replacing lighting in 6 parks with environmentally friendly lighting during the first half of this year, in line with its strategy to achieve environment and sustainable development goals.
This comes within a package of initiatives launched by the Municipality as part of its commitment to enhance rationalising consumption of electricity and water.
In this context, Eng. Khalifa bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Assistant Director-General of Engineering and Building Sector, confirmed that this project reflects the Municipality’s keenness to preserve the environment and instill this culture among the community’s members, contributing in highlighting the significance of relying on clean and environmentally friendly energy that can be used in various fields, as a continuation of several projects implemented by the Municipality in this regard.
For her part, Engineer Sawsan Butti bin Hadid, Director of Facilities and Projects Department at Sharjah City Municipality, stated that the Municipality has completed the work of replacing traditional lighting with environmentally friendly lighting in various areas in the emirate, stressing that the Municipality continues to implements such projects in order to achieve its strategic objectives in developing its public services and recreational facilities that support the quality of community life.
