Sharjah24: In implementation of the visions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to spread the green areas and implement agricultural projects in all areas of the city of Sharjah, the Sharjah City Municipality announced the completion of agricultural work for the area adjacent to the American University of Sharjah and the Academy of Police Sciences, on an extension of 2,600 meters.
His Excellency Thabet Al Tarifi, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, stated that this project comes in line with the wise directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to pay attention to agriculture and within the municipality’s annual plan to implement various agricultural projects and increase the percentage of green areas.
Al-Tarifi said that the municipality provided carpet grass on an area of 58,000 square meters and planted more than 300 palm trees, in addition to planting 5,000 flowering trees and 24,000 seasonal flowers in consistent colors.
Eng. Hassan Al-Tifaq, Assistant Director-General for the Agriculture and Environment Sector, explained that the project had more than 100 workers from the support groups, 10 technicians and observers, and 3 agricultural engineers used in it, and more than 40 heavy and light machinery were used in it, the supply of 24000 square meters of agricultural sand, and the provision of 100 tons of organic fertilizers, as well as the implementation of a fully automated irrigation network according to the best modern technologies.
