Sharjah24: The Organisational Committee of Ports and Border Points (OCPBP) in the Emirate of Sharjah announced the implementation of all recommendations issued by it during the first half of this year related to the development of workflow to improve the general performance of all ports of the emirate, as well as the provision of the necessary facilities for the entry of goods and passengers, while adhering to the necessary precautionary and preventive measures.
This came during the 7th periodic meeting held at the Khatmat Milaha Border in Kalba, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs, Chairman of the Committee, in the presence of members of the Committee.
The meeting reviewed the results of the annual audit of the land ports of the Emirate of Sharjah for the current year and identified the challenges and the necessary recommendations to tackle them and to enhance the strengths in order to improve the performance of all ports.
The committee also discussed the possibility of activating the check booths on trucks at the Khatm Milaha border port and following up on the latest developments regarding the port's security plan.
Lauding the cooperation and interaction of the committee members as representatives of the official authorities in implementing and activating the recommendations issued by the Committee during the previous months, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi underlined that the Sharjah government and Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, are closely monitoring the work progress and performance of the committee.
Al Raisi urged all the concerned parties to double their efforts to improve the performance and outputs provided by the authorities operating in the ports and border points of the Emirate of Sharjah, in line with the directions of the Sharjah Government in this regard.
He also emphasised the importance of integration and harmony between all security and government agencies, and the continuation of providing excellent facilities and services to all customers, using the latest international technologies and the application of best practices.
