Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), in cooperation with the Local Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team in Sharjah, announced the continuation of the physical attendance system for all students in the next academic year 2021-2022.
SPEA indicated that the decision to continue face-to-face education comes within the measures aimed at providing a healthy and safe environment for all sides to the educational process, after ensuring that the vast majority of the teaching and administrative staff in schools received the COVID-19 vaccine.
Proactive plans and precautionary measures
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, SPEA has been keen to provide a safe educational environment in the educational community, through concerted efforts and continuous coordination with the relevant UAE institutions. Such endeavour is represented by a set of studied decisions and supportive administrative and organisational practices, which included decision-making according to developments in the field, to achieve the conditions of face-to-face education.
SPEA worked on developing a well-studied mechanism and methodology to allow schools to receive students after applying the requirements. In addition to the continuous monitoring visits, which reached more than 2,000 monitoring visits since September until today, launching an electronic platform for daily operations to monitor infected cases in educational institutions, and forming a committee to follow up on cases of infection.
SPEA’s efforts included training school administrations on the guideline for reopening schools and receiving students to ensure the optimal application of precautionary measures, as well as holding workshops and training courses for schools on the distance learning system, and public awareness about the pandemic through the Sharjah Education Academy. SPEA also organised more than 20 courses, and a health awareness campaign in which more than 23,000 people participated.
His Excellency Major General Saif Al Zari, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Head of the Local Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Team in the Emirate of Sharjah, stated that the local team for emergencies, crises and disasters in the Emirate of Sharjah and SPEA have worked to enhance prospects for cooperation with all concerned institutions.
His Excellency added that this comes with the aim of securing a safe and healthy school environment for all students, parents, teaching, administrative and technical cadres in various educational institutions in Sharjah since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
His Excellency expressed appreciation for the efforts made by all members, participating parties, and educational institutions in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic and their pioneering role in securing a safe school environment.
Her Excellency Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), indicated that the pandemic has strengthened the bonds of cooperation and unleashed qualitative ideas and initiatives, which contributed to the success of the education system adopted by SPEA. Such efforts fall into face-to-face or distance learning, and contributed to accelerating decision-making by returning to the face-to-face education system.
