Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) has completed the Khorfakkan modern slaughterhouse, which is characterised by a set of advanced and modern features, and provides services to the residents of the city according to the highest standards. This was announced by Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of SPWD.
Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi said that the project, which sits on an area of 18,000 square metres in Zubarah Industrial Area, falls within the development SDPW plan to meet the needs of the municipal councils.

Engineer Mohammed bin Yarouf, Director of Branches Department said that the new abattoir can deal with all kinds of animals, and includes areas for loading and unloading of products, and other highly equipped facilities that facilitate work and process of slaughtering and delivering the meat.

The Khorfakkan slaughterhouse is characterised by the application of several criteria, including adherence to the requirements of green buildings approved by the department, observance of environmental protection systems by reducing heat emissions, and following a central cleaning system for slaughter halls, thus reducing the use of cleaning equipment and materials.

He stressed the department's keenness to protect the health and safety of the community and to establish a slaughterhouse with a high production and capacity in line with the growing demand from the public, which reflects the high societal awareness of the importance of following the correct steps in slaughtering and processing meat of all kinds.

He pointed out that the Department is always looking forward to bringing happiness and achieving satisfaction of customers about the facilities it builds, through careful follow-up of advanced global practices in various fields, which are in line with the department's vision of sustainable civilised construction, taking into account the adoption of unique and innovative work systems in the Khorfakkan Slaughterhouse to provide an exemplary and distinguished service to the public.

In the same context, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Public Works Department has completed the Khorfakkan Municipality nursery in the Al Harrai area, which is located within the department's development projects to meet the needs of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council.

Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the SPWD, confirmed that the Department pays great attention to projects that serve the agricultural sector in line with the visions of His Highness Sheikh the Ruler of Sharjah. 

Engineer Mohammed bin Yarouf explained that the nursery extends over an area of about 13,000 square metres, and includes two nurseries consisting of two fiberglass houses, each of which sits on an area of 1,104 square metres, in addition to two canopies dedicated to agriculture, each of which covers an area of 224 square metres.

He stressed that the project complements Sharjah Government’s policy aiming to expand the green area in the emirate.
