Sharjah 24: Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) unveiled that the fifth edition of Al Dhaid Date Festival will see new competition categories such as the Mango and the Fig. several local and federal institutions are taking part in the event.

This came during a press conference the SCCI held to unveil the details of the fifth edition of the four-day event, which will kick off on 22 July at Expo Al Dhaid.

Al Awadi said that the festival has been organised following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

He thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for His Highness's generous support of the festival.

In an exclusive statement to “Sharjah 24”, the Director General of SCCI added that the festival is welcomed by a large segment of the society including farmers and participants, and that valuable prizes have been allocated especially for this year’s edition.
