Sharjah24: The sixth edition of the annual Dates Festival was launched in the Souq Al Jubail in Sharjah and Al Hamriyah, running until two months with wide participation of traders of local and imported dates in the country.
The festival has a key role in supporting farmers and preserving the palm as an iconic of the Arabian Gulf. The festival witnessed a remarkable turnout of shoppers and visitors who extremely like the taste of dates and enjoyed testing various kinds of local and imported dates.
Taking the festival forwards, Engineer Hamed Al Zarooni, Executive Director - Asset Management at Sharjah Asset Management Company - the investment arm of the Government of Sharjah, affirmed that the festival is one of the most prominent events specialised in displaying and selling dates and their products in the country at competitive prices, noting that the event combines both sides commercial and heritage that sheds light on the importance of the palm tree in economic life.
