Sharjah 24: Within the framework of students’ programmes, Sharjah Education Council (SEC) launches the Tourist Guide Programme, aiming at qualifying students with skills to be tour guides, and enabling them to get to be acquainted with Sharjah tourist attractions to be introduced to visitors and tourists.
SEC developes the programme in cooperation with Sharjah Investment and Development Authority “Shurooq”, and the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA).
The tour guide programme is scheduled to start on the fourth to the fifteenth of July. The programme includes a number of workshops and sites visits, providing the participating students the best skills needed in the field of tour guiding. Within the current circumstances, the programme will be virtually conducted, for students 12 to 16 years old.
His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Mulla, Secretary General of Sharjah Education Council, praised the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the Council’s partners, namely, Shurooq and EPAA, and the launching of the tourist guide programme.
Al Mulla pointed that the programme constitutes a qualitative addition to the learning and training programmes offered by the SEC, whereas it enables students to be national professionals introducing tourist attractions to visitors, with the aim of enhancing Sharjah's position as a distinguished family, heritage and cultural tourism destination.
Al Mulla explained that the programme will be conducted daily, in the morning period, by visiting a number of tourist sites in Sharjah, using virtual communication technology, which will allow students to learn about thirteen sites.
Al Mulla concluded that the visits will include Al Bait Hotel, Al Noor Island, Al Muntazah Park, Al Majaz Waterfront, Bait Al Hikma, Mleiha Archeology Center, Mysk Al Faya retreat, Al Badayer retreat, Kingfisher Lodge, Moon Lodge, Khorfakkan Beach Park, and Buhais Biological Park.
