Al Naqbi: 60 firefighters, 20 vehicles controlling Mamzar fire

Sharjah 24: Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence, indicated that 60 firefighters and 7 officers from various civil defence centres participated in controlling Al Mamzar Tower fire, in addition to 20 vehicles of various tasks.

Colonel Al Naqbi said that the fire incident that occurred on Thursday morning in a residential tower under construction in Al Mamzar area in Sharjah was brought under control and was handled with high professionalism by civil defence men, as a large number of centres were moved to evacuate the building and control any fire.

In an exclusive statement to “Sharjah 24”, Colonel Al Naqbi added that the Operations Room of the Sharjah Civil Defence Department received a report at 6:55 am, stating that a fire had erupted within the tower. Firefighting teams were deployed immediately to the site and were there at 6:55 a.m.

The Director General of Civil Defence point out that the fire accident occurred on the 23rd floor, which is a service floor, and then moved through the openings of the building to the upper floors. All workers in the building were evacuated, and the fire was brought under control, and cooling operations are currently underway.

Al Naqbi thanked all civil defence personnel and all parties involved in extinguishing the fire from the Ministry of Interior- the General Command of Sharjah Police, Dubai, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence departments for their tireless efforts to support their colleagues in Sharjah Civil Defence to control the fire.
