Sharjah Police conducts a webinar on electronic fraud

During the event
Sharjah 24: The Eastern Region Police Department, in cooperation with the Competency Development Department of Sharjah Police Science Academy, organised a webinar entitled (Electronic and Telephone Fraud Crimes).
This comes in the presence of His Excellency Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Vice Chairman of the Academy Council, His Excellency Brigadier General Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Scientific Council of Sharjah Police Science Academy (SPSA) and Colonel Dr. Ali Al Kai Al Hamoudi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, directors of departments in Sharjah Police, a number of the Ministry of Interior officials and community members.

Major General Al Shamsi stressed, during his speech that organising the webinar comes within the framework of Sharjah Police social responsibility and role in educating members of the community, warning them of electronic fraud crimes. The webinar was conducted with the participation of distinguished elite of police officers and some government institutions in the UAE.  The webinar aims to review and discuss the best possible solutions to face this crime, which has recently increased during the Corona pandemic, whereas electronic and smart services provided to the public were improved.

Major General Al Shamsi added that the role and responsibilities of the police forces have greatly doubled in terms of directing and raising awareness of the public, in an effort to protect the society from the negative effects resulting from the misuse of this modern technology.

Major General Al Shamsi extended his thanks and appreciation to all participants and organisers of the webinar.

Dr. Ali Al Kai Al Hamoudi indicated that the webinar introduces the campaign organised by the General Command of Sharjah Police, under the title (Be vigilant .. Don’t be deceived), aiming to shed light on the steady increase of electronic fraud crimes. He noted that the increase of electronic fraud crimes is due to the increased facilities provided by government and private institutions and banks to their customers, which led perpetrators to commit their crimes.
