During the meeting
Sharjah 24: The Higher Organising Committee of Sharjah Theatre Days held its first meeting, on Thursday, at the Culture Palace, headed by Ahmed Burhima, Director of the Theatre Department in the Sharjah Department of Culture, Director of Sharjah Theatre Days, in the presence of committee members Ismail Abdullah, Mohammed Jamal and Abdullah Rashid.
The committee raised the highest expressions of thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for His Highness’s unlimited financial and moral support to the theatre in the country and for His Highness’s great care for the consolidation and continuity of cultural activity, especially Sharjah Theatre days.

The committee reviewed the general features of the last edition of the festival, which was held from February 28 to March 06, 2020, and the performances and seminars it witnessed. 

The committee also praised the efforts of the theatre teams and their management, the participation of Arabs of different generations, the wide public turnout and the media echoes that were achieved.

The committee stressed its keenness to establish the status of Sharjah Theatre Days and strengthening its position among Arab theatre festivals.

The committee expressed its thanks for the interest, support and proposals issued by many Emiratis and Arabs during the last period towards the Sharjah Theatre Days and other activities that were suspended due to the worldly pandemic, and appreciated their keenness to return activity to this vital cultural, recreational and social field.

In the axis related to setting the date and duration of the new edition, the committee agreed to be guided by the decisions of the Emergency and Crisis Committee during the coming period, as it is hoped that life will return to normal by the time of the next edition of the festival.
