Sharjah 24: Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabeh Al Tunaiji, Acting Head of the Department of Municipalities Affairs, Agriculture and Livestock, inspected and monitored the progress of the work in the archaeological area of Mleiha in the presence of representatives from the participating authorities in the committee to remove encroachments on the archaeological area of Mleiha, namely Sharjah Police General Command, Sharjah Department Of Town Planning and Survey, and Sharjah Archaeology Authority.
He explained that the relevant committees established an integrated work schedule with the participation of all concerned authorities to remove random farms and buildings from the archaeological area of Mleiha within a set time period.
Mana Muhammad Bani Yas, Head of the Compensation Section at the Department of Town Planning and Survey, stated that nearly half of the work has been completed.
Issa Yousef, Director of Physical Archaeology and Heritage at Sharjah Archaeology Authority, stressed the importance of Mleiha archaeological area, which contains an archaeological heritage dating back to the Stone Age and the first centuries AD.
