Sharjah 24: Professor Kolaytham Abdullah, academic services specialist at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), confirmed that HCT offer 71 programmes during the semester of 2021-2022, within 6 main majors: Business Administration, Computer Information Science, Education, Engineering Technology & Science, Health Sciences, and Applied Media.
The launch of the programmes was discussed during the second session of the third edition of the Academic Specialisations Exhibition, organised by Sharjah Public Libraries, affiliated to the Sharjah Book Authority. The Exhibition is virtually held between May 29 and next June 3, via "Zoom", and targets high school students and those wishing to pursue their university studies as well as individuals wishing to study in the UAE.

HCT Academic Services Specialist spoke about the eligibility requirements for the first semester of the academic year 2021-2022, using Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT), noting that the college’s programmes are offered according to the applied bachelor programmes, and the diploma and higher diploma programmes.

Professor Abdullah highlighted that EmSAT is very necessary to accept students wishing to join the college, whereas the tests measure the knowledge and skills of Grade 12 students as they finish their general education and move on to higher education. They provide decision makers with data for college admission and placement, namely for Arabic language for the education and pharmacy programmes, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, and language programmes.

It is noteworthy that the Academic Specialisations Exhibition aims to acquainting the participating students with the available academic specialisations, and associated skills and jobs. 13 universities, colleges and institutes in the UAE participate in the Exhibition and contribute to answer questions about various disciplines and their respective career in the future.
