Sharjah 24: One of the region’s most prominent platforms that showcases a diverse range of works by children’s books illustrators from around the world, the Sharjah Children’s Book Illustration Exhibition (SCBIE) is making its way to Dubai for the first time in its nine-year history.
The 9th edition of the prestigious exhibition will show in Dubai's vibrant hub of art, culture and creativity, Alserkal Avenue from May 27th – 29th, 10am – 7pm, in Warehouse 45.

The exhibition will display 58 intricately detailed works of illustrators from several nations around the world. It is curated by Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF), whose 12th edition is underway in Expo Centre and offers an exceptional opportunity for Dubai’s art enthusiasts to access a wealth of unique works contributed by illustrators to build the visual narratives in children’s books.

The artworks depict an exhaustive range of artistic styles and techniques and will enable visitors to experience a range of emotions through their explorative journey. The exhibition features domestic work from Emirati artists including Salem Al Junaibi, Asma Alhosani, Eman AlRaesi and Khalid Al Banna; among international participants from Chile, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Brazil, the Philippines, Lithuania, Argentina, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, and Egypt.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Emirati illustrator Eman Alraessi will be leading a workshop on how to create and develop characters aiming for children between the age of 7-12 years old, on Friday May 28 from 5:00 – 6:30pm.

The Sharjah Children’s Book Illustrations Exhibition is the brainchild of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) and was launched nine years ago at SCRF to underline the key role artists and illustrators play in making the world of stories appeal to young readers. It’s 9th edition comprises 395 works by artists from 50 nations, which can be accessed entirely at the exhibition’s main venue in Expo Centre Sharjah.
