Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority (SPCFZA) has posted an awareness video on its social media accounts highlighting the penalty for committing forgery in data of the certificate of origin.
This comes as part of the Authority’s efforts to raise awareness of its customers and community members about the laws regulating customs work in the country and the consequences of committing any customs violations.

According to Federal Law No. 11 of 2019 regarding rules and certificates of origin, whoever forges the data of the commodities imported into the State or exported outside the State or whoever provides misleading information with the intention of fraud in the certificate of origin or the indication of Origin, shall be punished by temporary imprisonment and/or a fine not less than AED (100,000) one hundred thousand and not exceeding AED (500,000) five hundred thousand.

This is in addition to the administrative penalties, including suspending the temporary granting of the certificates of origin for a period not exceeding one year.

The Authority underlined its keenness to elevate the legal awareness of all its customers and community members and enhance the effective and regular communication with them to get acquainted with all the updates of customs procedures and requirements. This is part of the Authority’s strenuous endeavors to enhance people’s compliance with customs laws and regulations and ensure the security and protection of society.
