SP donates 2,300 books to Wafaa Bilal’s exhibition '168:01' at HoW

The exhibition made a Middle East debut with its largest-ever iteration. It features a makeshift library filled with empty white books where visitors are invited to replace the blank books with real ones that will be donated to the libraries of universities in Baghdad, Mosul, Babylon, and the Iraqi National Museum. 

SP donated books covering various topics and fields, including arts, culture, and literature.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, has said the donation comes as part of the efforts to restore the invaluable lost titles and highlight the importance of books in community development and raising new generations that understand their roles in their societies. He stressed that SP is a partner in the societal efforts are aimed at instilling cultural and humanitarian values and in line with Sharjah’s efforts and initiatives that bolster the emirate’s status as a beacon of knowledge regionally and internationally, under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The Commander-in-Chief highlighted the importance of the initiative that reflects Iraq’s rich cultural history and heritage and the important cultural and humanitarian role undertaken by Sharjah.

For her part, Marwa Al Aqroubi, Director of HoW, thanked SP for their support of Bilal’s exhibition, which is running for the first time in the Arab world. 

“The generous initiative of Sharah Police reflects the social responsibility of various institutions and bodies in Sharjah, which help bolster the Emirate’s status in all fields, and translates SP’s keenness to support cultural initiatives, which in turn is aligned with the development journey of Sharjah,” the director added.
