Sharjah24: The Sharjah Social Security Fund (SSSF) issued its Circular No. (2) for the year 2021 to employers in the government sector in the Emirate of Sharjah who are subject to the provisions of Law No. (5) for the year 2018 regarding social security in the Emirate of Sharjah by adding an academic degree bonus to the salary of the subscription account.
His Excellency Mohammed Obaid Rashid Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Social Security Fund, stated that since the establishment of the Sharjah Social Security Fund, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has instructed to include permanent allowances, which have a continuity character, to the salary of the subscription account in the government sector of the insured with accordingly, Circular No. (2) for the year 2021 regarding the addition of the academic degree bonus to the contribution account salary was issued.
He explained that the calculation of the bonuses in general, especially the degree bonus, is complementary with the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in calling all the functional cadres of the government of Sharjah to obtain higher academic degrees.
Al Shamsi pointed out that adding this bonus is later reflected in the increase in the pension and the contribution account for the insured.
Stressing that the fund, according to its objectives, always works to reduce the gap between salary and pension by adding bonuses in the pension, which works to give the insured better insurance benefits that meet the life of the insured, give him stability and a decent life, and increase the pension.
Al-Shamsi said that according to the provision of Article 1 of Law No. (5) of 2018 regarding social security in defining the contribution calculation salary for the government sector, it is the basic salary plus the monthly bonuses and allowances that are given to the insured.
He added that the Sharjah Social Security Fund issued Board Decision No. (1) for the year 2021 regarding adding the degree bonus to the contribution calculation salary, as the decision stipulated that the academic degree bonus is to be calculated within the contribution calculation salary and the contributions due to the fund will be paid from the date of May 1 of 2021 AD.
He pointed out that the decision shall be enforced from the date of May 1, 2021 AD, and that all concerned authorities shall implement it in its regard.
He emphasised that the fund informed the Human Resources Department of the Government of Sharjah by adding the degree bonus to the salary of the subscription account and circulating it to government departments that apply the Human Resources Law of the Emirate of Sharjah.
