Sharjah 24: The jury of the 14th Al Dhaid Holy Quran Ramadan Contest has begun testing 145 contestants participating in the competition, which is annually organised by Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club in partnership and cooperation with the Sharjah Establishment for Al Quran Al Kareem and Al Sunnah Al Nabawiyyah, the Central Region Office.
The competition is held remotely by receiving photos of entries on WhatsApp due to the pandemic.
The mechanism of the competition’s work is focused on enabling participation by recording a visual material for the participant, starting by mentioning his full name with age, then reciting a full page of the Holy Qur’an according to the category in which he participates and sending with it a picture of the Emirates ID card.
In this context, the jury began to review the visual material presented by the participants, which includes their recitations, after the Al Dhaid Cultural Sports Club formed a supreme committee to oversee the organisation of the competition.
Hamid Abdullah Al Khatiri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club and Chairman of the Supervising Committee of the Competition, emphasised the yearly success of the competition and its continuation for the fourteenth year in a row amidst great demand by citizens to participate especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Salem Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, stated that the club organised the competition with full observance of covid -19 controls and instructions. He thanked Sharjah Establishment for Al Quran Al Kareem and Al Sunnah Al Nabawiyyah for its cooperation.
For his part, Khalifa Dalmouk Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Cultural and Community Development Committee, indicated that the 14th edition of Al Dhaid Club Ramadan Competition for the Holy Qur’an supports the programmes implemented in the club’s cultural and community activities and under the umbrella of the Sharjah Sports Council, especially within the framework of the programmed activities, to celebrate the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan in the cultural aspect.
