Sharjah 24: Al Amal School and Kindergarten for the Deaf, affiliated to Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, organised "Let's dialogue" Forum under the slogan "Deaf people in the face of the Corona pandemic" as part of the activities of the 46th Arab Deaf Week, with the participation of a group of specialists and experts in the fields of hearing impairment.
Afaf Ali Al Haridi, director of Al Amal School and Kindergarten for the Deaf of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, confirmed that they are celebrating the 46th Arab Deaf Week, on which occasion they organised the "Let’s dialogue" forum to remind everyone of the deaf and highlight their rights, capabilities and the nature of the challenges they face. The forum also provides the factors and conditions and harnessing technologies to remove the obstacles facing them and build bridges of communication to provide them and their institutions with the opportunities to play an active and positive role in the process of comprehensive and sustainable social and economic development, noting that the importance of the forum comes in the midst of the conditions that the world is experiencing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In an exclusive statement to “Sharjah 24”, Al Haridi added that the 46th Arab Deaf Week covers many activities, including the "Let's Dialogue" forum, which comes at the end of the week's activities to enrich it with valuable working papers that address the targeted experiences in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
She indicated that experts and specialists from the UAE, Egypt, Jordan and Oman participated in the forum and positively enriched it with their interventions.
Al Haridi concluded that the forum came out with recommendations, including inking agreements with universities specialising in the education of the deaf in foreign countries, and the establishment of A parent training centre, and the establishment of an early intervention centre for people with disabilities from the very day of childbirth.
