Sharjah 24: Based on the visions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to meet the needs of the elderly and take care of them, the Sharjah Municipality announced the provision of 1,146 free annual subscriptions to the elderly so far, as part of the initiative it has launched to exempt them from public parking fees.
In this context, Thabet Al Tarifi, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, confirmed that the initiative embodies the attention the municipality’s attaches to this category of the community and providing them with all needed comfort within its field of specialisation.
For his part, Khalid bin Falah Al Suwaidi, Assistant General Manager for the Customer Service Sector, affirmed that the municipality has started providing these subscriptions virtually through its website in line with its strengthening its role in supporting the emirate’s digital transformation pointing out that the initiative was launched since January 19, and was well received by the elderly.
In a related context, Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, Director of the Public Parking Department at SM, stressed that the requirements for using the service include that the applicant should be a citizen of the emirate and at the age of 60 years and above. He added that the beneficiaries can benefit from 50 thousand parking lots provided by the municipality in various areas of the city of Sharjah.
