SMAAD discusses work progress of Etihad Rail project in Sharjah

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs Department, SMAAD, held a coordination meeting with the Etihad Rail with the participation of the Department of Planning and Survey, Central Region Branch, and the municipalities of Al Dhaid City and Al-Bataeh District, in the presence of representatives of the Etihad Rail to discuss the progress of business in the Etihad Rail project in the emirate and ways to overcome obstacles to complete the work within the specified timetable.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Department, Dr. Khalifa Musabbah Al-Tunaiji, welcomed the attendees, highlighting the importance of the directives of the wise leadership in supporting the national development projects and keep pace with the great renaissance in the country, especially the Etihad Rail project, which aims to enhance the efficiency of the transportation system in the country, in line with With the UAE Vision 2021.
His Excellency also said that the national railway network project, as a strategic national project, will have a great impact in many aspects, including social, tourism and economic, and will contribute to the establishment of a new transport sector in the UAE as it will make a quantum leap in the field of shipping and logistics.
Commenting on this, Engineer Abdullah Makhlouf, Director of Central Region Branches in the Department of Planning and Survey, gave a detailed explanation of the Etihad Rail project in the Emirate of Sharjah, shedding light on the achievements accomplished with the participation of all concerned parties in the emirate.
Eng. Khaled Al Shehhi, Executive Director of Government Relations at Etihad Rail, gave a presentation on the project and objectives of Etihad Rail project and clarified its strategic objectives and economic benefits. At the end of the meeting, His Excellency Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of Sharjah Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs Department, SMAAD,, thanked all attendees and managers for their continuous cooperation and constructive efforts towards the completion of the Etihad Rail project, emphasising the importance of enhancing communication and developing joint work among all concerned parties in order to achieve good reflections on various aspects of work.
