Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC), affirmed the keenness of the Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA), since its launch, to enhance the awareness of the role of government communication, and to highlight the distinguished experiences within it.
Sheikh Sultan stressed that the award will continue its objectives in providing all support to various sectors and individuals, which reflect the development of the government communication system locally and internationally.

This came during a workshop organised by the International Government Communication Centre (IGCC) of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), which was held Monday remotely via visual communication technology. 

The workshop witnessed the presence of His Excellency Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Head of the Judging Committee of Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA), and the participation of a group of social media influencers from the United Arab Emirates, and the various regions of the Arab world.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi stated that based on the awareness of the important role of influencers through social media, new groups have been included for their contribution in supporting meaningful and constructive roles compatible with societal values, which enhances the concepts of responsible fruitful communication for their benefit and for the benefit of the community.

He pointed out that the eighth edition of the award, which seeks to add more outputs and enhance achievements, has introduced new categories that simulate the development thinking adopted by the Emirate of Sharjah and aim to honour creators in various fields.

The workshop presented by Jawaher Al Naqbi, Manager of International Government Communication Centre (IGCC), reviewed some of the award categories that were created, including the "Best Social Media Influencer" category, which targets the Arab world and is awarded to positive influencers through social media platforms in various fields who have achieved fruitful communication with the public. In addition to contributing to the promotion of concepts and ideas that would benefit the individual and society.

Al Naqbi touched on the category of the best photo / video in government communication, which expands its scope to the world and focuses on those who made a positive resonance that served a public cause and achieved an impact on the level of communication between officials and society through a picture or video.

The workshop conveyed the experiences of social media influencers participating in it, and reviewed their roles in promoting community awareness of many topics and issues and their contributions to supporting government programmes to deliver their awareness messages and support their efforts.

This workshop comes within a series of introductory workshops for the Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA), which is organised remotely to introduce the award’s new strategy, the most prominent amendments to some of its categories, the mechanism of participation and the target audience.
