The session was presented by Captain Ahmed Al Marzooqi, responsible for cycling affairs and a member of the Al Khawaneej Cycling Team, who talked about this sport, which has become a lifestyle that brings happiness and comfort to its practitioners, explaining its importance as a safe and environmentally friendly sport.
The session dealt with the benefits of aerobic sports on psychological and physical health, the types of bicycles and how to choose the most suitable ones. The session also shed light on the measures and procedures used for cycling, and the best places to practice this sport.
The session provided an opportunity for the public to ask their questions, after which a drawing was made for AED1,500 worth voucher from Trek Bicycle Corporation.
For her part, Jawaher Saif Al Oud, Director of Events and Activities Office at the SHRD and Director of the Waffer Discounts Programme, confirmed that the initiative came to highlight the societal trends of sports, and particularly support this sport, which has gained wide popularity. She noted the success of the Waffer programme in attracting a number of specialised bicycle stores and obtaining special discounts for Waffer card holders.
Al Oud added that organising this event focused on caring for the health of community members and raising their level of physical fitness, which would contribute to enhancing immunity and health levels for everyone, and relieving stress and pressures that have been brought about by the nature of modern life.
