DFDC raises awareness of cyberbullying

Sharjah24: Department of Family Development Centers (DFDC) affiliated to Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, in cooperation with the Gulf Center for Studies, organised a symposium entitled "Cyberbullying", with the aim of raising societal awareness of the risks of cyberbullying and ways to confront it.
The symposium was held via electronic platform focusing on cyberbullying in UAE’s society, highlighting the governmental and societal efforts to confront that negative phenomenon.

The symposium was attended by Dr. Khalifa Al Shaali, Director of the University College of Mother and Family Sciences; Adnan Hamad Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Education, Culture, Youth, Sports and Media Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council; Ihssan Al Suwaidi, Advisor in the Sharjah Consultative Council, along with a number of specialists in the family, social and educational fields. 

Omaima Daham AlAni, Consultant in the Department of Family Development Centers in Sharjah stated that the symposium comes within the framework of the department's efforts to reduce negative social phenomena that affects the stability and cohesion of the family, underscoring the department's keenness to address the phenomenon of bullying of all kinds, especially electronic.

The consultant in the Department of Family Development Centers reviewed the department’s efforts in presenting a study of cyberbullying in schools of the Emirate of Sharjah which included many recommendations on the importance of confronting bullying behavior through radio and television programmes and allocating programmes to talk about the risks of cyberbullying, and implementing awareness campaigns in schools.
