Sharjah24: New members of the Arab Parliament for the Child (APC) affirmed the ability of the Arab children to contribute to presenting innovative ideas and present creative projects based on their knowledge, scientific and cultural achievements.
This came during the first meeting of the second parliamentary session, held on Saturday via electronic platform, with the participation of 64 members representing 16 countries, to discuss the topic of "Innovation…a platform for the future".
The session, which lasted for nearly two and a half hours, was chaired by the child Kenzi Muhammad Abdullah from Egypt and assisted by the child Ritaj Al-Abbasi from the Kingdom of Bahrain, in consideration for their age.
The session was attended by Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations (DGR) in Sharjah; Counselor Issa bin Handal, Director of the Legal Department of the Government of Sharjah; Abdulali Al-Jahiz, Deputy Delegate in charge of the Kingdom of Morocco; Muhammad bin Yahya Al-Maliki, Second Secretary to the Qatar Delegate; Abeer Wreikat, second secretary of the Jordanian delegation, and Hawker Ibrahim Taher, second secretary of the Iraqi delegation.
At the outset of the session, Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of the APC, welcomed the members and the attendees and highlighted the great success that the previous members have achieved in the last session.
In his speech, Al Barout undescored the importance of the Arab Parliament for the Child affirming that the Parliament will remain the safe platform for expressing hopes and aspirations for a better and beautiful tomorrow. Al Barout expressed his sincere thanks and great gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah for his generous and unlimited support for the Arab Parliament for the Child so that it would be a platform for Arab children to express their views on all issues. He also thanked the League of Arab States and its Secretary General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, for the efforts to support the Arab Parliament for the Child and to strengthen its role as an institution affiliated with the League and its General Secretariat.
Al Barout pointed to the launch of the first session of the parliament remotely in exceptional circumstances due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and in line with the precautionary measures, which constitute a challenge for all to face the repercussions of this pandemic.
Kenzi Muhammad presented the topic of the session and listened to the interventions of members of parliament, and highlighted the importance of reaching meaningful, constructive recommendations and proposals that serve the children of the Arab countries.
In their interventions, members of the Arab Parliament for the Child emphasised the importance of benefiting from global successful experiences, especially the United Arab Emirates in the field of establishing the foundations for innovation and establishing incubating institutions, and supporting Arab childhood talents in all fields, as well as enhancing educational opportunities and discovering talents as an entry point for developing innovation opportunities.
The children members expressed their point of view and listened to each other, stressing, in their interventions, the importance of developing the innovative skills of children, in addition to enhancing the role of reading in this field, highlighting the role of the family, parents, society, and providing various technologies to develop innovative skills.
The children members underlined the importance of knowledge, innovation, and interest adopted by concerned parties, requesting to establish centres that adopt innovative projects provided by children in the fields of creating electronic services.
