Sharjah 24: The Arab Parliament for the Child, in cooperation with the University of Sharjah (UoS), launched Wednesday evening, via Zoom platform, its academic development programme, which is the first of its kind at the level of the Arab world in qualifying Arab children and members of parliament on parliamentary practice.
The first lecture, in which 64 male and female participants from different countries took part, was part of a series of diploma lectures held to provide scientific and academic topics to members through a group of UoS specialised professors.

The programme comes in line with the  directions of the Arab Parliament for the Child in its endeavour to raise the research and parliamentary capabilities of children and achieve its goals in order to consolidate the success of the parliamentary experience for children by enrolling them in a specialised academic diploma provided by the Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development at UoS.

Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for the Child, stressed the importance of the first of its kind professional diploma in the Arab World launched by the parliament with the aim training children to practice parliamentary work according to its correct rules with the help of one of the oldest universities in the region, the University of Sharjah, which will provide the lectures.

He pointed out that the launch of the diploma under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, will contribute to fully qualifying members for parliamentary work, which heralds a successful parliamentary practice during the second session of the Arab Parliament for the Child.

Al Barout stated that the lecture and the interaction of the members herald its success and that it will continue to be organised to achieve the goals pursued by the Arab Parliament for the Child.

He explained that the great response and praise by Arab countries to the programme and its scientific content will make it one of the pioneering programmes at the Arab level, as it combines the theoretical and practical aspects that a member of parliament needs, in a way that contributes to raising the level of performance and skills of its members.
