Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Education Council (SEC) approved 45 candidates for membership in five parents councils within the the Emirate of Sharjah in its second edition, which include Sharjah Parents Council, Central Region Parents Council, Kalba Parents Council, Dibba Al Hisn Parents Council, and Khorfakkan Parents Council.
This came during a press conference held on Sunday virtually, attended by His Excellency Dr. Saeed Musabbah Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Education Council (SEC), His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Mulla, Secretary General of the Sharjah Education Council (SEC), Aisha Abdullah bin Ali, Director of the Office of Parents Councils, in addition to a large number educators, invitees and candidates.
Dr. Saeed Musabbah Al Kaabi thanked His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for His Highness’s unlimited support to education and for His Highness’s directives to achieve prosperity in all educational outcomes, praising the follow-up of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, and highlighting his continuous and substantial care to SEC.
His Excellency Dr. Saeed Musabbah Al Kaabi pointed to the introduction of a number of amendments to the internal regulations of the councils, in accordance with the law approved by Sharjah Executive Council for nomination procedures, which allows membership by election to be 60 percent for citizens, and 40 percent for residents of the 5 different councils.
His Excellency indicated that after the elections, the council would appoint the other number to the parents councils, in coordination with the head of each council and selecting the specialisations, taking into account the representation of all regions in those councils and the balance between males and females.
Aisha Abdullah bin Ali revealed that the number of candidates for the Sharjah Council reached 11 candidates, for the Central Region 13 candidates, in Kalba 9 candidates, 7 for Khorfakkan and 5 candidates for Dibba Al Hisn, noting that the electoral campaigns for the candidates started from today and will continue until February 14, which is the end of the electoral campaign period.
