Sharjah 24: The Criminal Investigation Department at the Sharjah Police General Command recovered 210 hacked accounts during 2020, and referred 125 seizures in cybercrimes to Public Prosecution.
For his part, Colonel Omar Ahmed Abu Al Zoud, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah Police, affirmed that cybercrime of all kinds that come to the Information Technology Crime Branch, are part of the bad exploitation by weak-minded individuals. Such crimes include defrauding a person's data for the purpose of stealing or transferring money to accounts belonging to them, or exploitation for personal purposes.

Colonel Abu Al Zoud pointed out that the Information Technology Crime Branch is keen to prepare an annual plan that is implemented through continuous campaigns and participations in various exhibitions, and through awareness raising via Sharjah Police's social media platforms aimed at enhancing public awareness of the methods of deception that fraudsters use them to trap their victims. This comes through text messages or stealing their bank data, credit card numbers, or any means of fraud and electronic extortion.  

Colonel Abu Al Zoud added that the framework of the Sharjah Police strategy consistent with the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Interior aimed at enhancing security and safety, highlighting that the UAE is one of the best countries in the world for safety and security.

Sharjah Police General Command called on persons who are subjected to any electronic blackmail, or who are aware that their accounts have been hacked, to quickly submit reports to the Cybercrime Department of the Criminal Investigation Department, by contacting [email protected] or phone number 065943228 or via WhatsApp 0559992158 to receive reports to take the necessary action.
