The agreement will allow both parties to jointly establish a framework to achieve the country's vision of increasing the awareness of community members about laws and legal rights and help develop an integrated system for communication between them.
According to the agreement , SPL will offer the association's publications on its digital platform and in turn allow the entity access to its facilities. Furthermore, the two sides agreed to set up regular meetings to exchange knowledge, expertise and best practices.
The agreement also stipulates that the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal Consultants will organise virtual and onsite seminars, lectures, courses and workshops for SPL members, and post on the SPL website recordings of lectures which will be free for access by the public.
The agreement was signed by Eman Bushulaibi, Director of SPL and HE Counselor Zayed Saeed Saif Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Emirates Association of Lawyers and Legal Consultants, in the presence of the directors and heads of SPL branches and departments, jurists and members of the association.
Commenting on the agreement , Eman Bushulaibi, said: "This new partnership furthers our aim to provide valuable content to all segments of the community, and offers researchers, students and others interested easy access to books, learning materials and important documents covering the legal field. It also reflects the importance of cooperation between the private and public sector to serve the comprehensive national strategy."
"The agreement translates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhamad Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to expand the reach and role of libraries, and promoting a culture of reading to build a community capable of achieving the aspirations of the emirate and the nation," the director concluded.
For his part, Counselor Zayed Saeed Saif Al Shamsi said the agreement confirmed the importance of cooperation between public and private entities to accelerate social and cultural development.
Al Shamsi commented: “Since its inception, the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal Consultants has been working to increase awareness of legal issues through initiating and guiding research studies, organising seminars and workshops and publishing legal documents and books to benefit all target groups.”
The association's delegation toured the corridors and lobbies of Sharjah libraries, where they were introduced to the treasures of knowledge and toured between the sections that contain a great diversity of titles and in various scientific, literary, and philosophical fields, among others.
