Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council (SMC), discussed the development plans and projects of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) for the current year 2021.
This came during a meeting, on Monday, at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah with top officials of SBA's channels and stations.
The officials of channels and radio stations separately provided an overview of their achievements during the past year, which contributed to strengthening the process of community development in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The officials also reviewed the efforts made since the beginning of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and their role in educating the public of the Emirate to take preventive measures that ensure their health and safety. In addition to their keenness to deliver the government messages aimed at protecting the Emirate's people from the pandemic.
The meeting also witnessed a review of the operational plans and development projects to upgrade the channels and radio stations content, along with Sharjah Media Training Centre during the current year 2021, based on professional guidelines, which respond to global challenges and rapid technological developments.
The Chairman of SMC stressed the need to present innovative projects and ideas aimed at strengthening SBA’s position in media at the local and Arab levels, by developing concepts and solutions that keep pace with its developmental role and mission.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi pointed to the importance of meeting the public’s needs more in terms of transparency in providing news and information, along with approaching more topics that meet the interests and needs in an attractive manner, with the aim of maintaining its role as an influencer in media, education, and promoting the national identity in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi praised the efforts of SBA in its various platforms in supporting programmes and development plans for the institutions, entities and departments of the Emirate and UAE. Sheikh Sultan appreciated also the speed of response of SBA’s staff in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic through awareness programmes that educate the public on ways of preventing the spread of the virus.
