Sharjah24: The Sharjah Documentation & Archive Authority (SDAA) organised a hypothetical lecture entitled “Architecture Engineering in Sharjah from 1800 to 2020,” presented by Peter Jackson, Architectural Counselor in the Office of His Highness the Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
The lecturer dealt with the phases of changing the architectural character in the emirate by reviewing pictures that tell the history of the emirate since the year 1800, as it reflected the life of the people of Sharjah during that period. The lecturer continued to display a set of photographs, maps, and historical plans of the emirate, which provided the participants in the lecture with a visualization of the shape and design of the most important historical architectural landmarks in it.
The light was also shed on the unique architectural vision of the ruler of Sharjah, which made the Emirate of Sharjah distinguished by its ancient Islamic architectural style, which we see evident in the various parts of the emirate. Jackson also touched on the role of His Highness and his great efforts in preserving the architectural and urban history of the emirate through his directives for the reconstruction and restoration of its historic buildings.
